What’s New: The CES (Consumer Electronics Show) took place from January 9 -12, showcased groundbreaking technologies, and AI stood out as one star of the show.
A Few AI Tech Highlights:
Whispp App: The Whispp company launched its newest phone-calling app that converts whispered and vocal cord-impaired speech into a user’s natural voice in real time.
Samsung’s Ballie Robot: Samsung has revamped its personal assistant robot, originally introduced in 2020, with a fresh design, an onboard projector, and enhanced AI capabilities.
Cappella’s Baby’s Cry Translator App: Cappella has introduced a phone app that deciphers a baby's cries, identifying if they are hungry, tired, uncomfortable, or in need of a diaper change.
AI Voice Agreement with SAG-AFTRA: A landmark agreement between the Screen Actor’s Guild and Replica, an AI voice technology company, will now compensate actors for licensing their voices for video game use.
HP’s New Laptops: HP unveils new laptops equipped with an NPU (neural processing unit) designed for low-level tasks with AI acceleration.
Why It Matters: The technology exhibited at CES is always a spectacle, from transparent displays to futuristic cars, but the AI technology is particularly intriguing. The practical applications of AI continue to captivate us, especially following 2023’s boom of the technology.

What's New: Rabbit to launch its inaugural device, R1, a compact, AI-powered gadget capable of interacting with your apps and answering queries.
The Rabbit R1: This palm-sized device, operated like a walkie-talkie, learns your app usage patterns to replicate and automate tasks. Priced at $199, the initial 10,000-unit batch sold out swiftly. The device is expected to be available in late March.
Why It Matters: AI-powered hardware like the R1 is becoming increasingly common. The device has a sleek device and a swift sell-out demonstrates its appeal. I am excited to see the “iPhone” of AI devices. Check out the announcement video below
What's New: Nvidia has unveiled its new SUPER Series graphics cards, optimized for AI performance, along with a suite of AI-driven tools for developers.
Generative AI Tools:
RTX Remix: A platform to revamp classic video games, adding ray tracing and upgrading textures for a more refined visual experience.
Avatar Cloud Engine: A set of technologies that enable developers to infuse generative AI into game Non-Playable Characters, making interactions more dynamic.
Chat with RTX: a tech demo that will allow users to connect an LLM (Large Language Model) to their data to interact and obtain contextually relevant answers.
Why It Matters: I love highlighting the use of AI in video games. ACE (Avatar Cloud Engine) promises more engaging character interactions, while RTX Remix breathes new life into classic games. Check out the ACE demo below.
What's New: Walmart is enhancing its retail services in 2024 with AI-driven features for both consumers and associates.
Generative Search: The generative search feature would understand the context of a question and provide personalized shopping results. Instead of searching for chips, soda, plates, etc. for a birthday, a parent could simply search “help me plan a birthday party for 8 kids”.
Why It Matters: Generative AI is revolutionizing retail, streamlining shopping experiences. Imagine searching “vegetarian taco night for a family of four” and getting a complete meal plan in seconds!
